2012 Chairman's Post Tournament Message
By Brian McAuley SMF Trustee and Golf Chairman
On June 25, 2012 the 16th Annual CNOA Survivors' Memorial Fund (SMF) Golf Tournament was held at the beautiful Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach, California. We were fortunate to field 140 golfers. The players were treated to a continental breakfast, lunch, and a great dinner at the banquet.
A tribute was held for the 9 officers lost in 2011. The officers were also honored with Tribute Plaques with their photo, agency and EOW placed around the clubhouse. Jessica Gibson wife of Cathedral City PD Officer Jermaine Gibson was presented with her husband's Tribute Plaque.
The Corporate Partnership Award was presented to the Law Firm of Lackie, Dammeier & McGill for their continued support. Thank you to our other Corporate Partners, Sempra Energy, Enterprise Rent A Car, Toyota of Huntington Beach, Cerritos Infiniti, Union Press, Kapan Kent and California Police Youth Charities.
Special thanks to San Bernardino County District Attorney Michael Ramos, Yervant Manavian, Chief Special Agents Association, The San Bernardino County Safety Employees Benefit Association (SEBA), Professional Peace Officers Association, C.A.H.P. Credit Union, The law firm of Straussner & Sherman, Rialto Police Officers Association, Anheuser Busch, Pomona, CytoSport and Hangar 24 Craft Brewery, and Virgin America Airlines. There was also a special appearance of the Marine Air Corps Station Tustin YOUNG MARINES who participated in the opening ceremonies and assisted throughout the day.
Thanks to all the POAs, businesses and individuals who assisted our fund-raiser by sponsoring Tee Signs or provided donations. Lastly, I have decided to step down as the Golf Chairman and thank all of the committee members and volunteers who through their efforts made this a successful tournament. Corporal John Black, Rialto PD will be taking over as Golf Chairman.
All monies raised for the SMF go straight to the families of our fallen officers since the fund is run by volunteers. If you play golf, come and support this most worthy cause and if not please consider making a donation.
