CNOA's Frank Hartig Speaks In Support of SB 289
Frank Hartig, 4th Vice President of CNOA, spoke in support of State Senate Bill 289 at a press conference Thursday, March 28.

The family of CHP Officer Justin McGrory, who was killed in the line of duty by a driver who tested positive for drugs, and a group representing police chiefs also voiced their support of SB 289.

Senator Correa Introduces DUI-Drug Legislation
State Senator Lou Correa (D -- Santa Ana) discusses Senate Bill (SB) 289, a measure that would establish a zero tolerance policy for driving under the influence of drugs.

Under SB 289, California would make it illegal for a person to drive a vehicle if his or her blood contains any detectable amount of Schedule I, II, III or IV drugs.

In Memory: Mike Guy
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Executive Board Member, Mike Guy, who died on January 5th, 2013 at Odyssey House Hospice in Rancho Mirage, CA after a very brief battle with cancer.

Mike had a distinguished career in Law Enforcement that stretched over 50 years, and was perhaps one of the most well known CNOA members due to his contributions to the association.

Thursday night, December 13, 2012, Glendale Police Officer Joe Allen held a class sponsored by CNOA and NEFA on the effects of drinking alcohol at the Elks Lodge in Glendale, CA.

Volunteers drank copious amounts of alcohol and were tested using Standardized Field Sobriety Testing techniques.

CNOA Wins POST Award
Valencia, CA - The California Narcotic Officers' Association (CNOA) was awarded the 2010 Peace Officer Standards in Training (POST) Excellence in Training award in the Organizational Achievement category on February 24, 2011. The POST Excellence in Training Award was established in 1994 to encourage innovation, quality, and effectiveness of peace officer training in order to recognize outstanding law enforcement trainers. Each year, the Commission recognizes two individuals and one organization who have greatly contributed to the success and effectiveness of the law enforcement community.
